Gender Equality Index
Equality between women and men has been one of the cardinal values of Publicis Groupe since its inception. Respecting each individual is a strong component of the company culture under the motto "Viva la Difference", which recognizes and values individual uniqueness as assets.
The Group is deeply committed to issues of inclusion, diversity, and gender balance, reflected in corporate commitments such as signing the 7 Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) of UN Women, and active participation in the Unstereotype Alliance with UN Women, bringing together around twenty global companies to combat stereotypes in communication campaigns.
Gender equality must be tangible and requires constant vigilance; it must exist at all levels: from recruitment, through promotions and career progression, to remuneration. Indicators show that there are still areas for improvement.
In accordance with the provisions of the "Professional Future" law of September 5, 2018, Publicis France agencies with at least 50 employees have established their dedicated Gender Equality Index.
The criteria used in calculating the Index are :
- Indicator 1 : gender pay gap
- Indicator 2* : gap in individual pay increases between women and men
- Indicator 3* : gap in promotion rates between women and men
- Indicator 4 : percentage of female employees who received a pay increase upon return from maternity leave
- Indicator 5 : number of employees of the underrepresented gender among the top 10 earners.
In companies with fewer than 250 employees, indicators 2 and 3 are merged. Therefore, both individual pay increases and those resulting from promotions must be taken into account. To calculate the company's Index, we have engaged an external firm that compiled all the data and ensured the accuracy and reliability of the results.
The score obtained by Marcel (legal entity Diversified Marketing Services) in 2024 for the year 2023 is 83/100.
Breakdown of the score :
- Indicator 1 : 33/40
- Indicator 2 : 20/20
- Indicator 3 : 15/15
- Indicator 4 : 15/15
- Indicator 5 : 0/10
Marcel's Executive Committee members have decided to monitor the evolution of this Index quarterly and to enhance the training of management teams on unconscious biases. Beyond the strict annual snapshot of indicators and the publication of the index for the concerned companies, the Group aims to continue improving its actions with the goal of social progress to strengthen gender equality in the workplace.
Publicis Groupe is convinced that professional and wage equality is a factor of collective enrichment and sustainable performance, and a major challenge of social policy.
Publicis Groupe also aims to raise awareness among its employees and management staff on other equally important issues aimed at strengthening gender equality in the workplace: balance between professional and personal life and combating sexual harassment and sexist behavior.
